Cursillo Weekend

Simply put, explaining what is Cursillo to someone who has never experienced Cursillo is at best, difficult. Even those who have already experienced Cursillo can still find it somewhat mystifying. The Cursillo Movement isn't a 'secret' organization but rather one's personal journey. And the reason behind the mystery is the relationship with God. No one can fully explain how God touches each person in their own special or unique way.

The Cursillo weekend begins on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday evening. During the day, those attending live and work together by listening to talks given by lay people and a Catholic priest, praying together, and sharing meals. The atmosphere of the weekend is one of love, joy, and grace.

The weekend’s talks (called Rollos) emphasize the true meaning of grace, the sacraments, the Mass, the nature and need of prayer, living one’s daily life in union with God, living one’s faith in a secular world, and introducing Christ to others by word and deed. A small group discussion follows each talk.

Besides the talks there is also sharing, singing, fun, laughter, spontaneous informal prayer, and great food.

Day of Faith

There’s no doubt that each of these virtues–faith, hope and love–have great value. In fact, the Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:6 that, “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God, must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. So, without faith, we can’t come to believe in God or walk in obedience to Him.

Day of Love

Sometimes we need to be reminded of His great, constant and unconditional love for us. He loves us even when we disappoint Him in things we say and do. We all do it – We just need to be reminded of His love and encouraging when we feel we haven’t lived up to our potential. He still love us! No one loves us as He does.

Day of Hope

Hope keeps us moving forward. I cannot imagine my life without hope. Hope fuels us to face impossible challenges. Hope is the expectation that we will obtain what we desire. Hope is a special gift from God in the day to day monotony and in the middle of difficult circumstances. Hope encourages us to keep running the race until we reach the finish line.
