Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that October, with its two wonderful Cursillo weekends, is almost over. I hope that your celebrations of All Saints Day and all Souls Day provide you with many blessings. I also hope your celebration of the eve of all Saints Day – Halloween is fun!

Cursillo continues with opportunities to get together for Community and Prayer. There are two opportunities coming up that I want to bring to your attention.

School of Leaders
Tuesday, October 30, 2018
7 to 9PM
St. Frances of Cabrini (in the room off the Gym)

Come hear Fr. Dave Mercer, Pastor of St. Thomas of Canterbury Parish and Spiritual Advisor on the 2018 Fall Men’s Weekend, speak to us about Telling Your Story of Faith and Grace.

Following this, we will have a technique talk on writing Rollos. The technique talk will feature some from our Cursillo community who have had the role of Rollo Consultant. It should be a great evening. For those who have never given a Rollo, this will be a great opportunity for you to see what the process involves.

Discernment for Spring 2019 Rector and Rectora
Wednesday, November 7, 2018
7 to 9pm
Holy Family Parish (inside the Church)

Although the Fall weekends just completed, we will have the Spring weekends in April and it is now time to gather and pick the Rector and Rectora for those weekends. It may seem somewhat soon but given the Christmas holidays, time will fly by.

What is Discernment?
Men and Women who meet the criteria to be Rector or Rectora will gather to prayerfully discern whom the Holy Spirit is calling to lead the Spring weekends. While they are discerning, the Cursillo Community gathers and prays for them for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We will sing, pray, listen to Scripture, and do whatever else we can to be supportive.

Finally, when the discernment is complete, the gathered community blesses the newly designated Rectora and Rector. Not only is this a great way to support the movement and those discerning, but it is also a great way to be among the first to witness who has been chosen. In addition, if you are eligible and willing to work a weekend, this is a great opportunity for you to let the new Rector and Rectora know.

All Cursillistas (including our newest brothers and sisters who just made their Cursillo this month) are invited to these two events. I hope to see you there.

Know that you are in my prayers daily,
Chris Basanese
