|“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim” Acts 2:11
Many of us are processing the recent events in Minneapolis and in our own communities. It can be difficult to sort out “where to start”, so I start with prayer. I pray for healing, understanding, awareness, justice, and equality. Yeah, that’s a long list, but the situation is complicated, long-standing and systemic. I also pray for discerning my response.
I believe in the powers of love, acceptance, and sharing. When I read Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2, I see a call for me to share the love and witness of God and Jesus to everyone through word, deeds, and everyday behavior.
I know each of you share God’s unconditional love and acceptance with others, and those people are better because of it. I also believe in the multiplier effect: the more we love and accept others, the higher the chance that they too will love and accept others. And so forth. Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection shows me that love does eventually conquer hate and darkness.
