My Dear Sister and Brother Cursillistas …

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens.” Ephesians 1.3

I hope this Rooster Crows/Newsletter finds your family, friends, and you healthy and safe.  The Catholic Church is celebrating Ordinary Time. It’s a beautiful season to reflect on the goodness, blessings, and love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We the Secretariat truly hope that you continue to witness Jesus’ message by connecting with and service to each other. We hope you each share the gifts and talents that you possess and support each other and your communities.

Sue Winklebleck’s term as Assistant Lay Director ended on June 30 and I thank Sue for her service to our Secretariat.  I know we give thanks to God, but we are Christ’s hands and feet here on earth.

Sue is a role model for each of us in servant leadership.  Sue leaves after two years serving as our Secretary and three years as Assistant Lay Director.  She’s been a trusted partner to Chris Basanese and myself.  Sue’s leadership, friendship and wisdom will be missed on the Secretariat, but I know she will continue serving God and our community.  I truly value and appreciate, and am grateful for, Sue’s service and contribution.

I am excited to announce that Janet Wolk has discerned and accepted to be our new Assistant Lay Director effective July 1.  Janet is a member of Holy Spirit Parish.  Janet has served on several core teams and is active in group reunion (4th Day) and Ultreya.   She brings a ton of enthusiasm, initiative, leadership and her faith-walk to the Secretariat.  She too is a role model in servant leadership. Each of us are excited to serve with her.  Please help me welcome Janet to her new role!

Mike O’Connell, our Treasurer, also termed out officially on June 30. We continue to seek and discern a Treasurer and we ask the community to invite others to discern with us.  Mike has agreed to stay on until we discern a new treasurer and for that I am deeply grateful.  Please contact me if you would like more information on serving as Treasurer.

On Wednesday, July 8, we will pray the Rosary, the Luminous Mysteries.   Please see more details below.

As noted in prior Newsletters, please see below for ways to volunteer and serve if you are able; please see the note about Catholic Charities below.

And finally, we’ve learned that two of our Cursillistas have gone to the Lord.

  • Michael R. Ames, made his Cursillo in Spring 2004
  • Patricia “Pat” Every, made her Cursillo in Spring 2006

Please keep Michael, Pat, and their families in your prayers. May our Lord welcome Michael and Pat into His loving arms.  Holy Mary Mother of God and St Joseph, please pray for Michael and Pat. Amen.

You are in my daily prayers.

Sincerely and De Colores,
Larry Cargnoni
