Lay Director Message

Chris Basanese / Lay Director

Dear Friends …

I hope you are faring well in spite of the odd May weather.

Having completed our Discernment for the Fall 2019 Rector and Rectora (congratulations again to Laura and Harry) our thoughts turn to the next Discernment coming in Early June. This discernment will choose the next Lay Director for the three-year term beginning on July 1, 2019.

Lay Director Discernment

Thursday, June 6, 2019
7:00PM to 9:00PM

Saint Thomas of Canterbury
1522 McCoy Avenue
San Jose, CA 95130[ Google Maps ]

If you can, please RSVP via Facebook Event.

The entire Cursillo Community is invited and encouraged to attend. Unlike the Rector and Rectora discernment, the candidates for Lay Director answer questions in front of the community. The community, in addition to listening to the responses, join in prayer asking God to make clear who is being called to lead the Movement for the next three years.

A Selection Committee does the choosing. It is made up of Secretariat Members present and an equal number of the community drawn at random from those present at the Discernment. These people make their selection based on what they hear and the prompting from the Holy Spirit.

Selection of the new Lay Director will be by consensus (general agreement by all or most) of the Committee members.

I again encourage as many of you as possible to attend. You will be among the first to find out who the next Lay Director is.

Please also plan to attend the upcoming May Ultreya and May School of Leaders. Both are great opportunities to gather with Community for prayer, song and friendship.

In Conclusion …

Know that you are all in my prayers everyday.

Lay Director
