Social Media Posting Guidelines

We have documented and formalized the San Jose English Speaking Social Media Posting and Newsletter Guidelines.  You may find them here on Google Docs.

Brothers and Sisters,

The Secretariat has received feedback from members in our community who have expressed concerns about videos and photographs posted within our newsletter, social media, and website.

Please note that the intention of the shared videos and photographs from many valuable members in our community is to share God’s glory of our movement, to share God’s unconditional love, and to share our community’s celebrations.

Unfortunately, we’ve received feedback around personal consent and expectations of privacy and confidentiality. After consulting some members of Secretariat including those involved with communications to the community, we agreed on an approach.

Moving forward, all videos and photos depicting any individual (deceased or otherwise) will not be posted onto our newsletter, social media, and website without the explicit approval from the direct individual(s). This includes all videos and photographs of events, prayer requests, memorials, and funerals.

Moreover, the Secretariat will soon be publishing its criteria for Facebook, newsletters, and social media. We thank you for your understanding.

My Sisters and Brothers in Christ…

Our core mission is to bring people closer to Christ “Make a friend, be a friend, bring a friend to Christ” – and then invite that person to make a Cursillo so the process repeats. Our Cursillo weekend reminds of God’s unconditional love and acceptance for each person. The weekend instructs to us influence our environment and journey together as Christians, each pursuing our ideal and striving to be the personification of Christ.

We are not a social group with Jesus added for good measure. We are here to love each other as sisters and brothers in Christ as we witness God’s love to ourselves, family and community. Email, the website/Database, and social media will be used to advance and support our Movement, supplementing the Grace of God, the Holy Spirit, and prayer.

Please consider your responses as you type your replies to the Facebook policy.

I invite and expect rational and respectful discussion. The diversity of our Cursillistas makes our movement strong. We aren’t going to agree on everything.

We do, however, and will continue doing our prayerful best that every Cursillista is loved, supported, respected, and accepted as they journey to Christ.

We will prayerfully continue to respect and balance several factors: the tradition of confidentiality of “what happens on the mountain stays on the mountain” (including what is shared in often raw emotional moments at a potluck), that our movement is under the auspices of the Diocese of San Jose, and that for some there can be an expectation of confidentially and privacy.

For some too, the expectation of confidentially and privacy as well maintaining the confidentially of our traditions extends to team formation, Ultreya, School of Leaders, and Discernment.

You may send me a message if you want to discuss the policy further. I will be happy to discuss it at the November Ultreya.

In Closing …

Please keep Chris Lavond in prayer as he forms the Spring 2020 Men’s team. Please also pray for our women candidates who will discern on November 25 for Rectora of our Sprint 2020 Women’s team.

Keeping each of you in daily prayer,

Larry Cargnoni
Lay Director
